Acquah Joseph Acquah is a founding member of the clinical staff of the Osher Center. He has practiced acupuncture for over 35 years and the Art of Tai Chi Chuan for 30 years. He participates in all three departments of the Osher Center: Clinic, Education and Research, and he regularly teaches medical students at UCSF. Joseph is a nationally recognized Diplomate in Acupuncture (NCCAOM). Joseph also has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. He has lectured at such conferences as TCM Building Bridges, Women’s Health and Alternative Medicine, and Food as Medicine. He has also guest lectured at Yo San University of Oriental Medicine and UCLA. He is the former Clinical Director and Internship Coordinator for the California Acupuncture College, served as an expert consultant for the State of California Acupuncture Examination Committee, and has taught at several colleges including Emperors College of Oriental Medicine, New England School of Acupuncture, and American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was also an adjunct professor at Antioch University. In 1995, Essence Magazine named Joseph as one of the top 100 alternative practitioners in the United States. He is also the author of The Legal Status of Acupuncture in the United States. Joseph began his study of Tai Chi Chuan in 1971 with the late Master Marshal Ho. In 1984 he entered the Tung International Academy under the leadership of the third generation Master; Tung Kai Ying. He is now a senior student and instructs in the Tung system of traditional Yang style Tai Chi Chuan slow form, Tung family form, Tai Chi sword, knife, lance along with push hands, and fast form.
